my love for running started at a very young age. without question i think i am the only twelve year old who has ever asked for a treadmill for their Christmas present (spoiler alert: my parents gave me a hockey net instead). growing up, i remember vividly watching my mom train for + run marathons, + can still feel the goosebumps i would get from watching her cross the finish line. reflecting as a parent now, i was so incredibly lucky to grow up with such inspiring, active parents; thanks to them sport + exercise is naturally in my blood.
growing up on the fields + the courts playing both soccer + basketball competitively, my legs were always drawn to challenging myself with longer distances; my love of running cross country was born out of the love of sports i already cherished. i play 2 years of College Basketball and then transferred to the University of Alberta where i found myself on the varsity Cross Country team.
now as a mom of 3 combined with years of running + experience I have a new appreciation for training and competition. finding time to fit in training on top being a working mom is not always easy but with the support of a coach and community, I hope you can find the same balance and success in your goals as I do in mine.
